Bold Face explores the cult of celebrity and the styles, trends and brands that stars show off in movies, at events and living their daily lives. To be considered for inclusion please contact senior editor, Deirdre Carroll.

George Clooney had two huge movies this year, one he directed and the other has earned him a Best Actor nod. This Bold Face takes a riff off the classic “degrees of separation” game and highlights three stars that are somehow connected to the star…

The consummate up-and-coming actress, Shailene Woodley, made her feature film debut alongside George in this year’s The Descendants. The film that has earned him his third Best Actor Oscar nomination has also earned a Best Picture nod, so it’s possible that Woodley may take the Academy Award stage her first time out the gate. In fact, she was already nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Golden Globe for her role in the film, so walking the red carpet is already old hat. Not bad for a 20 year old. Paul Giamatti is also an Oscar nominated actor and he shared the screen this year with George in the other big film Clooney was a part of—The Ides of March. The film was written and directed by, as well as stars, George, who has been nominated for another 2012 Academy Award for Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay thanks to the film. Giamatti is one heck of a character actor and thanks to his acting skill is no stranger to award shows. Like George, our next celeb’s father was also a journalist. David Cronenberg began directing films in 1966 and over the course of his career has become known as the “King of Venereal Horror” or the “Baron of Blood” thanks to such films like The Fly, Dead Ringers, A History of Violence and Eastern Promises. Though not directly linked to George yet (Bold Face is sure their directorial circles will cross eventually), Cronenberg is directing the upcoming Cosmopolis, a film about a multimillionaire’s 24-hour trip through Manhattan, which stars Paul Giamatti. The star of this picture, however, is undoubtedly Cronenberg’s Hans optical frames from Mykita
