STYLE: Brands + Designers FGX International Introduces Redesigned Gargoyles Collection By Tiffany Wong Monday, March 2, 2015 12:00 AM SMITHFIELD, R.I.—After acquiring the brand in 2003, FGX International is launching a redesigned Gargoyles optical collection. Adhering to its legacy as a performance brand, the collection was made with active lifestyles in mind. There will be 16 new styles in five distinct stories—Technology, Contemporary Metals, Classic Metals, Contemporary Acetates and Sport— for a total of 43 frames. The styles are made in a variety of high-quality materials, including titanium, pressed carbon fiber and TR 90. Every high index polycarbonate Gargoyles lens meets ANSI Z87.1+ standards for high mass and high impact resistance, and includes a Tri-Tech oleophobic treatment and an anti-reflective treatment. Technology frames have minimal titanium flex and hidden spring hinges, with flat metal construction and pressed carbon fiber temples. Contemporary Metal frames come in industrial screwless hinge designs, while Classic Metal frames incorporate Gargoyles Sun DNA and have co-molded tips. Contemporary Acetates have matte and shiny finishes for subtle design contrasts, and are made with Italian-inspired acetate materials. Sport frames, made with TR 90, come in semi-rimless and full-rim plastic styles. Each style comes in premium packaging, including a durable zip case with carabineer, with a two-year warranty against manufacturing defects and a lifetime of trade-ups at 50 percent off.
