Luxottica’s
Persol unveiled the second of three installments in its “Persol Magnificent Obsessions: 30 Stories of Craftsmanship in Film” exhibition series at The Museum of Moving Image in Astoria, Queens. The exhibit celebrates stories of obsessive craftsmanship behind some of cinema’s most iconic on-screen moments. At the event here earlier this month, guests and VIPs spent the first part of the evening touring the exhibition and watching the lively Le Conversazioni panel discussion featuring Antonio Monda and actor John Turturro. They then moved to the foyer to sip all-white cocktails and to enjoy small bites by Fat Radish and dance to an eclectic mix of dance, pop and rock, courtesy of special guest DJs Terry Richardson and Twin Shadow. Among the many celebrities and VIPs who mingled with Luxottica’s Milena Cavicchioli, Antonio Miyakawa and Corinne Abruzzi, were Dianna Agron and Jaime King (shown here) along with curator Michael Connor, director Todd Haynes, designer Rebecca Minkoff and actresses Arianne Phillips, Patricia Clarkson, Zoe Saldana and Abbie Cornish, among others. Safilo Group’s Solstice Sunglass Boutique and Carrera brand jointly celebrated the retailer’s 10th anniversary and the US launch of the Carrera 6000 with a two-day “Celebrate Summer Solstice” event last week at the Gansevoort Plaza in downtown Manhattan. Just in time for the heat wave, the event kicked off the afternoon of June 20 with Safilo execs including Rick Talmage, Ross Brownlee and Robin Ettinger (shown here), as well as celebs Miss USA 2012 Olivia Culpo and Entourage’s Adrian Grenier (also shown) and continued once again on Thursday for the general public. The event was characterized by high energy and high heat, with performances from DJ Solange Knowles and parkour dance routines from The Tribe, along with refreshments and a photo booth. Centered at the event was a geodesic dome symbolizing the sun (but offering cooler air) where guests could try on the new Carrera 6000 collection, which borrows its name from the sun’s temperature and includes nine different options...

Eastern States Eyewear (ESE) and Lawrence Cameron of Exclusive Eyewear in Brooklyn, N.Y., co-hosted a “Cazalebration” at HK Lounge located in NYC’s Hell’s Kitchen area on Saturday, June 23. Much Cazal signage was put up throughout the packed club, including banners, counter cards and a 10 foot wide Cazal sign, as well as a Cazal video projected on one of the club’s huge walls. The video, which one of ESE’s customers put together, showed Cazal through the decades and a 30 minute montage of Cazal images, which played throughout the entire evening. Additionally, DJ Will of Power 105, who had given the event much air time the night before, spun tunes and gave shout outs to the brand all night. Two lucky partiers won the evening’s raffle of a black Cazal 901 and a tortoise Cazal 607, as well and a gift certificate to Exclusive Eyewear. Clubbers also had the chance to try on Cazal frames and receive an email of the picture to upload to their Facebook, Twitter, Instagram accounts, etc. More photos from the event can be seen on ESE’s Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/eseyewear/photos.
