Frames Data, a provider of product information and database services for the optical industry, has redesigned its website for optical retailers at www.framesdata.com. The new design launched earlier this month and is now live for active subscribers to search for frame information and wholesale pricing.

According to Frames Data, this redesign reflects the shift of optical retailers toward digital products and services delivered over the internet. "Frame dispensers have become more comfortable with using websites to process orders and even access practice management software. At the same time, use of our website has grown dramatically over the last few years. We felt the need to provide a higher level of functionality that savvy web users were expecting," said Tom Doyle, director of marketing.

The advantages inherent in a web-based experience have also driven this upgrade. "We add new frames to the database every day we're in the office," said Doyle. "We add new photography every day, too. The website is the best place to give customers access to the updates. Now they have a cleaner, more user-friendly design with which to do it."

The main changes to the site, besides a cleaner, more modern look, include consolidation of search filters onto one page, improved search functionality that updates results as criteria are added, and enhanced branding and advertising opportunities.

"We're very excited by the reaction from our customers so far," said Tom Lamond, president of Frames Data. "With any change, you expect there to be a learning curve, but in this case the response has been very positive."
