NEW YORK—Adlens is set to launch Focuss, its proprietary Variable Power Optics eyewear in the U.S. Beginning in June, eyecare patients will be able to receive Focuss glasses from over 150 eyecare professionals in select states in the Northeast, Midwest and as well as Texas and California.

Dave Eichelberger, senior vice president, said the company will target “high-end, innovative practices.” Adlens began training eyecare professionals at those practices this month, he added.

“Focuss fits beautifully within the optical channel. There is no barrier for it being placed in any ECP’s office,” noted Dr. Graeme MacKenzie of Adlens, director of regulatory and industry affairs.

Variable Power Optics technology was successfully tested with eyecare patients through a four-month trial with LensCrafters toward the end of 2014, as CustomFocuss. Strong responses validated the technology, aligning with expectations and previous observations of the market, according to Adlens CEO and executive chairman Mike Ferrara.

The eyewear features a proprietary design that allows wearers to adjust the focus of their individual lenses by turning a small dial inside the frame. n
