Charmant launches the Tru Trussardi Eyewear collection for men and women for the Spring/Summer 2011 season. The launch collection offers a range of signature shapes that express the brand’s Italian legacy and showcase unexpected uses of leather and tailoring treatments.

Specifics: At least eight sun styles for men and women and four optical styles comprise the initial launch offerings.
Selling Points: A fresh mix and match of materials, including hard and soft, matte and glossy and warm and cold to create a tactile experience. Men’s frames tend to be bigger in size and square with generous rims and metal detailing; while vintage styles get updated with leather accents. This technology creates a naturally hydrophilic contact lens that retains water, minimizing dehydration, eliminating the need for wetting agents, coatings or additives. Avaira Toric is manufactured from enfilcon A material. Water content is 46 percent, Dk is 100, and Dk/t is 91. The lens features sphere powers from Plano to -6.00D; a base curve of 8.5mm; a diameter of 14.5mm; cylinders of -0.75, -1.25, and -1.75; and an axis from 10 degrees to 180 degrees in 10-degree steps. An expanded SKU range will be launching in the future.

Mykita Unveils Their Luxe Collection

Mykita has bowed their Luxe Collection. Luxe frames are high-quality stainless steel frames coated in white gold, platinum or, depending on the model, painted by hand. The temples and nose pads are made of natural horn supplied by Hoffman Natural.
Wearer: The Luxe models target consumers with a taste for more sophisticated eyewear products.
Specifics: The collection currently features six retro shapes, re-editions of popular classics dating back to the first half of the 20th century, and two contemporary shapes.
Selling Points: There are two panto styles, the small, round Sigmund and the squarer Nikolas, with a lacquer coating around the lenses, inspired by the acetate applications traditionally found on Windsor style eyeglasses. Samuel is a classic and modestly proportioned aviator frame for gentlemen; while for ladies the Cosima is an elegant version of a '50’s Nylor top-bar frame, both can be worn as spectacles or sunglasses. The collection also includes two basic contemporary shape, the Friedrich and Johannes, both are rectangular.

For Spring/Summer 2011 Modo for Jason Wu will introduce the Miss Wu Collection. All the styles will incorporate a whimsical new icon in the form of a tiny, wide-eyed owl named Miss Wu.
Specifics: Four new optical and five new sun styles.
Selling Points: All styles feature the new Jason Wu icon in subtle etchings on the temple and on the left temple tip. One of the designer’s favorite animals, the owl will provide a playful accent on his eyewear and also appears on the hardware of his Ready-to-Wear and accessories. Feminine notes and total harmony mixed with twists on retro-inspired details are the creative expressions of the new collection. The style names were inspired by iconic women of power and substance and after the success of the Mia sunglass last season it is being reintroduced in two new colors.

Allison Expands Moschino Collection for Teen Girls

Starting in March 2011, Allison will be offering a new Moschino eyewear collection, Moschino Teen. Moschino Teen is dedicated to young girls from 9 to 12 years old.
Specifics: The five ophthalmic frames, produced both in acetate and metal, are characterized by a bow decorative detail which is done in enamel or as a three-dimensional element that embellishes the temples or front.
