Nikon Launches Blue Blocking AR Coating
Quick Take: Nikon Optical USA has introduced SeeCoat Blue, a new type of AR coating that cuts blue light, a major source of eyestrain.

Specifics: “Americans, on average, spend over half their waking hours in front of digital screens, such as computers, smart phones, tablets and televisions,” said Rick Davis, Nikon’s executive vice president. “These devices emit strong blue light which scatters easily, reducing contrast and adding to eye fatigue. SeeCoat Blue is the first in a new category of functional anti-reflective coatings that reduce blue light, improve contrast and reduce eye fatigue.”
Selling Points: SeeCoat Blue has a 97.5 percent luminous transmittance percent, while reducing blue light by 10 percent compared to conventional AR coated lenses. The coating also optimizes transparency and has scratch resistant, super-oleophobic and anti-static properties. It is available through authorized Nikon distributors.

McGee Presents Argyleculture Improvisation
Quick Take: The McGee Group has introduced Improvisation; the latest collection from the Argyleculture Eyewear Collection.
Specifics: Two optical looks that combine bold color combinations and the latest men’s fashion trends.
Selling Points: Improvisation involves taking well known standards and transforming them by adding a unique element or twist. The Argyleculture “Improvisation” collection features the Sanders and Mobley; the latest looks for the urban graduate looking to make a statement with his eyewear. The Sanders is a semi-rimless frame with a metal front and color block laminated temples. The high bridge and modified rectangular eyeshape create a European-inspired look with adjustable nose pads and spring hinges. The accents of blue and red in the frames reflect trends prevalent in menswear, but the combination of colors also has a classic appeal. The Mobley is a full rim acetate frame with a high bridge and large rectangular eyeshape. Metal décor on the temple as well as argyle patterned temple tips add to the retro feel of the frame. The triple color fade front and custom Italian acetate on the Grey/Red frame creates a unique color combination.

Charmant Releases New Esprit Kids Eyewear
Quick Take: Charmant has introduced the latest addition of Esprit Kids eyewear featuring new styles and colors including detailed temple designs and spring hinges.
Specifics: The new line consists of four girls and one boys frame. Available in metal and combos of metal and plastic in popular cateye, oval and soft square designs.
Selling Points: For girls, the ET17373 is a flat metal frame with contrasting vivid color-blocking combinations in an array of colors such as purple and blue, black and pink, red and white, pink and yellow. The ET17374 is a combination frame in soft toned-down color on the outer frame and brighter colors on the inside, with leaf shaped deco and Esprit logo on temple; while the ET 9391, also a combination frame, has an oval shape with an ombré plastic front and metal temples with a star-shaped flower garland application. Lastly, the ET17375 is a metal frame in contrasting candy-color combinations with a temple that is adorned with a butterfly shaped flower motif. For boys, the ET 17376 is a roundish metal frame with bold personality featuring two-tone color stripes and the Esprit logo embossed on the arms.

Skaga Adds "Colourful" Acetate Collection for Autumn
Quick Take: Skaga, from the Swedish eyewear company, Scandinavian Eyewear, launched of its new Autumn Collection, including completely unique colors for the collection.
Specifics: Called “special acetate,” the collection features 16 autumn styles.
Selling Points: Skaga’s special acetate consists of four layers of acetate, three of which are in selected colors and the fourth of which is transparent. The result is color compositions that are totally unique to Skaga, according to the company. Within the “Colourful Atmosphere” theme, Skaga is also reliving the 1980s with retro colored nylon wires holding the lenses in place which gives a special tone-on-tone effect when, for example, blue frames are combined with another shade of blue in the wires. As well as blue, other colors include green, red, pink and black.

Kaenon Introduces Women’s Wishbone
Kaenon has introduced a new women’s polarized sunglass, Wishbone, as part of celebrating their 10 year anniversary. The style, which features their proprietary polarized SR-91 lens, features a hexagonal lens and frame shape complimented by thinly sculpted temples. Moderately sized, the Wishbone is the first 6-base women’s sunglass from Kaenon. The lightweight, feminine frame is crafted and hand painted in Italy and constructed of lightweight TR-90. Non-corrosive, custom hinges and metal inlayed icons maintain the frame’s understated appeal.
Okia Unveils Lace Collection
A traditional hallmark of wedding dresses or veils, lace has recently become a popular fashion trend; which is why, according to the company, Okia has decided to put the pattern on eyewear. The intricate lace texture decorates the frame temples creating a refined look with a “vintage” touch, available in tones of black and blue. The lace pattern is achieved through the application of the company’s patented HDA Technology.
