Avalon Debuts Le Grand Extra Large Men's Collection
Quick Take: Avalon Eyewear has launched a brand new men’s eyewear collection specializing in larger fits called Le Grand.
Wearer: "Le Grand gives the ECP a well-rounded quality product lineup designed to meet the market's need for large fit and multiple sizing options for men,” said David Pildes, vice president of Avalon.
Specifics: The initial 16 piece collection represents Avalon’s modern sensibilities and ability to address the needs of the dispensing optician. There are four plastic styles, as well as 10 metal and combination models.
Selling Points: "The collection is at a significant cost savings when compared to existing alternatives truly providing the 'biggest bang for the buck' with features that include handmade materials, spring hinges and contemporary styling," added Pildes. Styles range in size from 56-60mm and temples come in lengths from 140 to 155mm, with six styles in the collection coming in multiple sizes each. Several materials are used including handmade zyls in a variety of modern and classic colors with all styles coming in three colors each to allow the optician to choose from a broad selection to best fit their patient's needs. Merchandising and P.O.P. materials for the collection include a six-frame display and a single frame logo plaque, as well as counter cards.

L’Amy America Launches Ann Taylor Eyewear
Quick Take: L’Amy America has debuted the Ann Taylor eyewear collection to the U.S. and Canadian markets.
Wearer: The full eyewear collection was designed to complement the modern woman’s chic lifestyle and is a natural extension for the brand as it continues to outfit women head-to-heels for every facet of their busy brilliant lives.
Specifics: The launch collection is comprised of 17 ophthalmic styles and five sunglass styles.
Selling Points: For the first time, the ready-to-wear ophthalmic frames and sunglasses will be available beyond the brand’s own distribution channels. Sunglasses, which launched last May, were previously only available in Ann Taylor stores and on www.anntaylor.com. Eyewear will come with a white saffiano case embossed with the Ann Taylor logo.

Safilo Unveils the Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter Line
Quick Take: The Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2013/2014 eyewear collection from Safilo Group draws inspiration from the bold aesthetic of 1930s and 1940s Hollywood.
Specifics: The new sunglasses and optical frames have chic silhouettes, refined details and rich colors, underlining a vision of classic sophistication.
Selling Points: The retro-style MMJ 406/S sunglasses mirror the graphic elements of the fashion collections’ season with rounded lenses layered on angular frames. Inspired by the Caged Gems group from the season’s jewelry collection, the hexagonal frames make a bold, geometric statement with a color palette that features opulent hues of red, blue and green with Havana, striped horn or black along with gradient lenses. The men’s MMJ 395/S and MMJ 592 acetate sunglasses and optical frames have an understated design, highlighted by contrasting colors featuring the brand’s iconic stripes on the inside in the tones of the Fall/Winter 2013/2014 color palette.
