LAUNCHES

Mad Vision Brings Red Bull Racing Eyewear to the U.S.

More Images
Quick Take: Mad Vision has introduced the Red Bull Racing Eyewear line of sport glasses, sunglasses and goggles to the U.S.
Wearer: With technical precision and innovative design, the collection targets ambitious men from 16 to 40 years old.
Specifics: “The Red Bull brand is synonymous with the action sports lifestyle,” said Dan Pady, vice president of the sport division at Mad Vision. “Consumers in this category have high demands for new sunglasses and goggles from a recognized brand, with cutting edge designs, great fit and innovative materials at affordable prices.”
Selling Points: To meet these demands, the collection incorporates materials used in Red Bull Racing Formula One race cars. Xtreme matrix polymer from race car seats creates thin, lightweight optical and sun frames with outstanding comfort. Additionally, the sunglasses integrate Xtreme nylon lenses (XNL), an unbreakable material used in helmet visors. XNL is the lightest ophthalmic lens in the world with an incredibly high abbe value for unbeatable clarity, the company said. Equipped with Carl Zeiss lenses, the collection’s goggles combine a 360 degree outrigger system used to fit helmets and a pit stop exchange system allowing wearers to change lenses and frames quickly.

Zeiss Offers Relief for Driver Stress in Low-Light Conditions

Quick Take: Zeiss has released a line of lenses called DriveSafe that are designed to help drivers see better in poor visual conditions.
Wearer: “Every winter, more than 1.3 million people search the internet for topics like night driving and driving in the rain,” said Jens Boy, Zeiss Vision Care’s president, North America. “This suggests that many people are experiencing problems in these situations and are actively seeking a solution. Zeiss DriveSafe makes it easy for ECPs to address this significant patient need.”
Specifics: Available in progressive and single vision designs, DriveSafe lenses offer excellent all-day performance, according to Zeiss.
Selling Points: Zeiss DriveSafe lenses are the product of extensive research into the visual challenges of driving. The lens maker worked with a leading headlight manufacturer to determine the best coating to reduce glare from modern headlights, resulting in DuraVision DriveSafe AR coating. The coating specifically targets the wavelengths of Xenon and LED headlights that cause blurred vision and discomfort in night driving. DriveSafe lenses feature Zeiss Luminance Design technology, a new lens calculation technology based on pupil size in low light conditions that results in clearer, more natural vision at twilight and on cloudy days.

Marchon Debuts New Calvin Klein Eyewear

More Images
Quick Take: Marchon Eyewear has launched the new Calvin Klein Collection of optical and sun styles that provide a minimalistic design aesthetic with rich colorations and artful detailing.
Specifics: Six new styles equipped with Calvin Klein’s signature reverse hinge, one optical and two sun styles for women and likewise for men.

Quick Take: Safilo has launched the Fendi Fall/Winter 2015/2016 Collection of sunglasses featuring striking color combinations, graphic patterns and iconic signatures of the Roman Maison’s style.
Specifics: Six new sunglasses that celebrate Fendi’s unique workmanship and savoir-faire, the company said.
Selling Points: The geometric architecture of each sunglass is enhanced by unexpected colors and innovative materials creating a collection with unique and distinctive design, the company said. Inspired by the bird of paradise flower, Fendi presents the Paradeyes sunglass that defines a new interpretation of the “frame within a frame” concept. With metal temples in refined enamel colors, the floating architecture and cut-out volumes of the Paradeyes create a stunning contrast between the flat round metal eyes and the soft cat-eye shape in Optyl.
