CooperVision Unveils Avaira Vitality Sphere and Toric Two-Week Contact Lenses

Quick Take: Illustrating its commitment to providing advanced contact lens technology in every modality, CooperVision, Inc. has launched Avaira Vitality in the U.S. This upgraded version of its popular Avaira two-week contact lenses provides multiple benefits through a new silicone hydrogel material, the company said.
Wearer: Avaira Vitality sphere and toric lenses are made from a new material (fanfilcon A), which features a higher water content (55 percent) as well as a high level of oxygen permeability and transmissibility, resulting in overall comfort for wearers. UV protection has been improved to Class I—the top rating—meaning the lenses now block more than 90 percent of UVA and 99 percent of UVB rays.
Specifics: Higher water content and permeability levels as well as stronger UVA and UVB blocking.
Selling Points: “These [two-week] lenses continue to present significant opportunity for practices, largely due to their affordable, entry-level price point,” said Jerry Warner, president, North America, CooperVision.
Avaira Vitality toric lenses feature CooperVision’s revolutionary toric technology—Optimized Ballast Design—which provides stability and optimal visual acuity. They will be available in a power range of +8.00D to -10.000D. The base curve is 8.5mm and the diameter is 14.5mm. Avaira Vitality sphere lenses feature powers from +8.00D to -12.00D. The base curve is 8.4mm and the diameter is 14.2mm.
CooperVision will begin distribution of Avaira Vitality sphere fit sets and lenses in the U.S. this month. Avaira Vitality toric will be available beginning in December in a limited parameter range. The full power range is planned for 2017.

Quick Take: Eyenavision, Inc. has launched Roger Bacon Eyewear which is the first made-to-measure 3D printed eyewear collection. ECPs that provide Roger Bacon eyewear will receive both a scanner and visualization unit’s LCD display. Customers can then preview any frame in the collection using the Roger Bacon custom visualization unit which shows the customer’s image in any frame available in the collection.
Specifics: 20 frame shapes, each available in 10 color options.

Individual frame orders are easily placed from the iPad using Roger Bacon’s cloud-based ordering system. The frames are then custom printed and the parts are provided to Eyenavision for final inspection and assembly. The completed frame is provided by Eyenavision to the ECP.
