Essilor Debuts Mr. Orange
Product: Mr. Orange Edger
Top Line: Mr. Orange is the newest addition to the Essilor Instruments USA line of high efficiency finishing products. The tracing, blocking, and edging system is “high tech but not high priced,” according to Essilor.
“Because eyewear fashions are increasingly more sophisticated, many in-office edging systems are now at their performance limit. They simply can’t produce both the technically accurate and aesthetically pleasing lenses the market demands,” said Robin Rhodes, director of sales, Essilor Instruments USA. “That’s why we’re so pleased to offer Mr. Orange—the in-office edging system with today’s necessary tech capabilities for high wraps, drilling, and rimless jobs—at a relatively modest price point,” said Rhodes.
Close Up: Mr. Orange features numerous integrated functions such as management of high curves up to base 9 and optical tracing that is twice as fast as mechanical tracing for rimless and groove jobs.
All edging, grooving, and drilling tools can incline up to 30 degrees. Designed for easy operation, the system has intuitive navigation, a touch-screen interface and visual alerts. Exclusive, patented Fit-4-Frame technology lets users determine the best lens level profile for each frame/lens combination depending on lens thickness at four strategic points, resulting in a perfect lens fit with exquisite aesthetics.
“Essilor’s Star Control is especially beneficial when offices process hydrophobic treated lenses. It practically eliminates slippage and crazing, regardless of material, shape or finish,” said Rhodes. Star Control provides real-time control of cutting forces to minimize torque and stress on the lens while optimizing the speed of the edging cycle.
Making Mr. Orange even more powerful is Essibox, Essilor’s open communication system that integrates an office network and effectively manages shape and drill point databases. Lifetime remote maintenance comes standard with Mr. Orange and keeps it performing at its best with downloaded updates and remote diagnostics.
The Essilor design team factored in the operator’s comfort in Mr. Orange’s detailing: the centering space is designed for all lens geometries; a hand rest and front loading arm for ambidextrous use; and the hand rest has a soft touch finish for comfort and accuracy. The unit’s innovative computerized centering aid makes blocking with Mr. Orange easy, fast and precise.
Vital Stats: Upon its international launch at the SILMO fair in Paris, Mr. Orange won the coveted Silmo D’Or optical industry award in the equipment category.
