Coburn Technologies Intros SGX Pro Generator

Product: SGX Pro
Top Line: Coburn Technologies has introduced and begun shipments of its latest generation surface generator, SGX Pro. The SGX Pro is equipped with new electronics, operating on a Windows 7 platform. Modernized with a touch screen interface and USB capabilities, this user-friendly generator makes lens processing easier. Like its predecessor, SGX Plus, the SGX Pro generator delivers high performance, dry-cut milling technology for processing Trivex, and CR-39 monomer from PPG, polycarbonate and high-index lenses.
Close Up: The SGX Pro is the fourth generation of the SGX series of generators and is one of the most popular lens generators in the world. Known for its reliability and impressive performance, SGX Pro has one of the widest curve ranges on the market and has been proven to provide the same dependability and accuracy of earlier SGX models.
“The SGX has always been a terrific compact generator and the latest model, SGX Pro, is even better. It makes lens processing simple and cost effective; perfect for the small wholesale or retail lab,” said Charlie Seidel, director of the Lab Works Group at Coburn Technologies.
Vital Stats: Concurrently, Coburn has discontinued production of its SGX Plus generator at their world headquarters assembly plant. Coburn will continue to provide support and service to existing SGX Plus generators and, in addition, offer an SGX Pro Upgrade kit for users looking to update that equipment.

Recon Releases Smart Nutrition App for Recon Jet Smart Eyewear

More Images
Product: Refuel
Top Line: Recon Instruments is introducing Refuel, a smart nutrition app for Recon Jet smart eyewear, an advanced smart eyewear solution for sports and high-intensity environments that was released in April. Refuel allows athletes to maximize their performance by telling them when to drink and eat during an activity—and advising them on recovery refueling afterwards.
Close Up: Refuel notifications are delivered on Jet’s smart-eyewear display, located just below the athlete’s right eye, where they can be viewed at a glance. During an activity, Refuel calculates exercise output, including calories burned, and tells the athlete when to rehydrate and fuel up. After an activity, Refuel provides detailed suggestions regarding rehydration and calorie composition to optimize the athlete’s recovery.
Vital Stats: Jet users can download Refuel today from Recon’s new App Center. Refuel is coming soon to other wearables and mobile devices, as well.

Western Optical Supply Offers Barrel Aligning Plier

More Images
Product: Barrel Aligning Plier
Top Line: A patient comes into a dispensary with the temples on their frame flopping up and down making a comfortable fit impossible. The dispenser removes the temples and sees the wings on the barrel attached to the frame front are off at a sizeable angle rather than being parallel. An adjustment requires a tool that can grab each wing, straighten and align it and set the proper distance between wings.
Close Up: The new Barrel Aligning Plier from Western Optical Supply is designed specifically for this adjustment. In moments, a dispenser can reset the proper alignment and spacing to reassemble the frame so the temple is a good tight fit.
Vital Stats: The Barrel Aligning Plier #2033V can be seen on the Western website, www.westernoptical.com, where you can watch a live demonstration (Western Optical Live! page 28).
