SmartVision Labs Adds Two Second-Gen Smart Autorefractors

More Images
Product: SVOne Pro
Top Line: This week at the SECO conference in Atlanta, SmartVision Labs is introducing two second-generation smart autorefractors, the SVOne Enterprise and the SVOne Pro.
Close Up: The SVOne Enterprise is an automated self-guided objective refraction technology, combining the power of mobile computation, precision optics and connectivity.
The SVOne Pro is an upgraded version of the company’s core technology with an increased range of power and several features that improve usability and accuracy.
The SVOne Enterprise, a Shack-Hartmann wavefront aberrometer, is a patient-directed vision testing station. Results from the voice-guided refraction examination are automatically uploaded to a secure, HIPAA-compliant cloud platform. Recommended for retail locations, pharmacies, hospitals, workplaces, schools and other remote settings, the SVOne Enterprise provides eyecare providers a powerful patient engagement and remote patient monitoring tool.
The SVOne Pro has the same core technology as the original SVOne autorefractor, but with increased range of power and improved usability. The new device features a new open view channel so the operator can see patients’ eyes when aligning the SVOne Pro. When the pupil is detected, the SVOne Pro auto-triggers to automatically acquire wavefront data through its software.
The measurement parameters of both the SVOne Enterprise and SVOne Pro have been increased to cover the vision needs of 99 percent of the population: the sphere range is -14.00 to +14.00D, and the cylinder range is -7.00 to +7.00D.
“For our second-generation products, we really listened to feedback from our partners and underwent a major design overhaul,” said Smart Vision Labs COO and co-founder Marc Albanese. “SVOne Enterprise and SVOne Pro mark a new frontier in visioncare by providing professionals the most powerful refraction devices in a truly easy to use and portable format.”
CEO and co-founder Yaopeng Zhou added, “Over 700 million people worldwide suffer from uncorrected refractive errors. The FDA Class 1 exempt devices weigh less than a pound each and the price point makes it accessible to the average clinician,” Zhou said. “We believe these innovative devices can drive more accessible vision care for everyone.”

Frames Data Announces Integration With OD Online

More Images
Product: Frames Data, OD Online Integration
Top Line: Frames Data has completed an integration with OD Online, an EHR and PM software provider based in Houston, Texas. With this integration, users of OD Online who subscribe to Frames Data IDA (Immediate Data Access) will now have access to information on thousands of frames directly from within their practice management software.
"This integration with OD Online is the first to be using our new and improved REST (Representational State Transfer) web service interface," said Tom Doyle, director of marketing and key accounts at Frames Data. "Web services in general are the wave of the future and it's how we want to be providing data going forward. And now our new, upgraded web service allows for an even faster response time and increased overall performance."
Close Up: When using OD Online with a Frames Data IDA subscription, users will be able to access detailed frame information such as UPC codes, sizes, colors, and pricing. All this data is delivered via a web service that is updated daily.
"Daily updates enable eyecare professionals to add new frames into their inventory as soon as they like," Doyle added. "They won't need to wait for a new disc or download to come, which can sometimes take a few weeks to deliver."
An additional benefit is the automated updates feature, a requirement for all new Frames Data integrations. Automated updates allow users to check for changes to frames already in their inventory and have the changes made programmatically, without having to manually type them.
"Having changes to frames made by the software, rather than having to type them in, is a huge improvement," said Doyle."Frame information is constantly updating. This is a painless way to stay on top of the changes, without spending hours on database upkeep."
Joseph Nguyen of OD Online said the integration steps up the way inventory can be managed from within the software. "Keeping frame information as up-to-date as possible, especially pricing, is vital to eyecare professionals. We understand this and made it so our software can deliver accurate data as quickly and as efficiently as possible through an easy-to-use interface."
Vital Stats: OD Online is one of six completed Frames Data integrations, including Wink, Acuitas, FlexScan MD, My Vision Express, and The Visual Management System.
