Topcon’s 3D OCT-1 Maestro Receives FDA Clearance

Product: 3D OCT-1 Maestro
Top Line: Topcon Medical Systems announced that the 3D OCT-1 Maestro has received FDA clearance and is now available for sale in the U.S.
Close Up: The 3D OCT-1 Maestro System combines a high resolution color non-mydriatic retinal camera with the latest spectral domain OCT technology. The rotating touch panel and fully automated (alignment, focus and capture) operation make the 3D OCT-1 Maestro a diagnostic solution for clinical practices of all sizes. PinPoint Registration properly indicates the location of the OCT image within the fundus image. A 12mm x 9mm scan along with automated segmentation provides measurement and topographical maps of the optic nerve and macula with reference database in one scan. The 3D OCT-1 Maestro also features a compare function, as well as automatic segmentation of RNFL, total retina, GCL + IPL, and GCL + IPL + RNFL with extensive reference database.

SOFTWARE

Ocuco and EGMA Introduce Lens Design Software and Customized PALs

Product: Contour software and Contour ADT lenses (Eyeonx X100, X300, X500, X700).
Top Line: ECPs can now customize lenses individually by each patient’s lifestyle, with new progressive lens options and innovative software, through a partnership between EGMA and Ocuco.
Close Up: EGMA LLC lab and Ocuco have partnered to manufacture progressives utilizing Ocuco’s proprietary software, Contour. Contour’s Adaptive Design Technology (ADT) selects a lens design based on each patient’s unique lifestyle needs, individually adapting the lens for the best possible vision utilizing the selectmylens.com website.
ECPs can now add more value for all their progressive lens wearer, gaining greater leverage and competitive advantage in a market where it is increasingly difficult to differentiate.
“This partnership provides the optometrists with a wider selection of design potential to further personalize their patients’ lens and eyewear,” said Ocuco’s Brian Boddy, ABOM.
“The Contour process engages the patient and knowing their own individual needs are being addressed they will be a more loyal, satisfied customer.”
EGMA vice president Alan Yuster added, “This new technology that EGMA is privileged to be the first to introduce is a natural extension of our Eyeonx portfolio of lenses. The X100 is a non-compensated, digitally manufactured lens where the refraction and lensometer values are equal. The X300 lenses are compensated by calculation for 'as worn,' i.e. pantoscopic tilt, vertex and wrap. The X500 is personalized by individual measurements for the as worn individual measurement, and now the X700 Contour ADT is the perfect extension, allowing all the benefits of X500 with further individualization by preference and lifestyle.”
Vital Stats: All prescriptions are manufactured in the EGMA laboratory in Dallas, Texas. The software and lenses will be launched at Vision Expo West.

Adaptica Intros 4.1 Version of 2Win Software

More Images
Product: 2Win Software Version 4.1
Top Line: Adaptica’s latest software upgrade for its 2Win mobile binocular refractometer and vision analyzer includes several new features and improvements.
Close Up:
• New focusing indicator, based on corneal reflex shape/intensity, helps positioning the 2WIN at the ideal distance and improves measurement accuracy and repeatability.
• General improvements in data acquisition.
• Better accuracy in both the low and high refractive error ranges.
• More accurate response under sub-optimal light conditions.
• Reduction of quasi-emmetropic estimations.
• Lens centering app: output calculated with respect to visual axes at infinite.
• New graphics for DP-app pupil response.
• New dispersion gaze value in zoom app.
• Added screening report in IRDA printing.
Vital Stats: The 2WIN is a mobile binocular refractometer and vision analyzer that measures both eyes at the same time, in real life vision conditions. It embodies the best and the most complete technologies to fully detect refractive errors, eye abnormalities and vision problems by measuring in the range of -15D to +15D automatic measurement of dynamic pupils response to programmable light stimulations, and accurately center spectacle lenses.
2Win’s main applications:
• Binocular refraction measurement in natural vision conditions.
• Refractive errors—Myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and other amblyogenic factors. Un-aided binocular refraction of all other patients.
• Refraction of infants and children from two months of age, seniors, impaired and non-cooperative patients.
• Early detection and documentation of multiple amblyogenic factors. Un-aided binocular refraction of all other patients.
• Sight anomalies that may be related to anisometropia, anisocoria, strabismus, phoria.
• Pupil parameters—pupil size, pupil distance and head tilt.
• Automatic measurement of dynamic pupils response to programmable light stimulations.
• Over-refraction with glasses or contact lenses.
• Lens centering on spectacle frames.
