Stratasys Offers 3D Printing Solution for Eyewear

More Images
Product: Stratasys VeroFlex Rapid Prototyping Eyewear Solution
Top Line: The Stratasys VeroFlex Rapid Prototyping Eyewear Solution offers eyewear manufacturers the ability to lead with the latest market trends, deliver products over a year quicker, and improve salability of their products.
Close Up: The Stratasys VeroFlex Rapid Prototyping Eyewear Solution allows eyeglass designers to effortlessly 3D print accurate models of their designs, with all their intended aesthetic qualities, such as transparency, patterns and colorful designs, and may allow designers to shrink time-to-market from 15 months to eight weeks.
From initial design concept to display on the store shelf, a new eyeglass frame design takes about 18 months, using traditional development techniques, according to Stratasys eyewear customers. Large eyewear manufacturers may create up to 150 new frame designs weekly (or thousands of new frames per year), the company said.
The new solution combines Stratasys’ unique J750 multi-color, multi-material 3D Printer with, VeroFlex, a new specially formulated 3D printing material for eyewear rapid prototyping needs. VeroFlex offers a unique combination of stiffness and flexibility, essential for a wide range of prototyping requirements. From initial concept iterations to complex multi-color and advanced texture models, to precise functional models for performance testing, VeroFlex offers a more durable and flexible material for demanding internal tests prior to tooling and production. This provides eyewear manufacturers the ability to deliver products over a year faster and lead with the latest market trends, while improving salability of its products, according to Stratasys.
“The eyewear market continues to expand, driven by new technologies, demand for customization and growing addressable markets,” said Mike Vasquez, founder and CEO at the digital manufacturing consultancy, 3Degrees. “As the industry seeks to maximize its opportunity, Stratasys' prototyping solutions for frames and eyewear accessories—which can cut time-to-market by upwards of 80 percent— will be an attractive solution that is able to deliver immediate value for users looking to make parts with a high degree of mechanical function and appearance.”
Vital Stats: When used for design verification, the Stratasys VeroFlex material offers realism enabled by combining six new VeroFlex materials (cyan, magenta, yellow, white, black and clear), and the ability to create and mix solid, opaque, transparent and color shades in addition to simulating true-to-life textures such as wood grains, leather, stitching, bone, carbon-fiber, and photo-realistic images.
For functional performance testing, the Stratasys VeroFlex material stands up to key eyewear-maker evaluation, including drop tests, lens-mounting, stress tests and wearability tests, according to Stratasys.

US Ophthalmic Intros Portable, Versatile Retinal Camera

More Images
Product: Ezer EZ-Horus Retinal Camera 45
Top Line: Fundus screening allows the diagnosis of several diseases and also manages the evolution of pathologies in ophthalmology and other branches of medicine. Previously the possibility of doing comprehensive retinal studies was based on expensive and non-portable equipment, often limited to specialized hospitals.
Approved by the FDA and distributed by US Ophthalmic, the innovative Ezer EZ-Horus 45 portable auto-shooting auto-focus retinal camera allows full fundus photography, video, and live streaming with clear 5-megapixel resolution. Powered with a non-mydriatic lens, it makes fundus photography and video faster, easier and versatile for the ophthalmologist and patient.
Close Up: Images are captured vividly, quickly and automatically due to the Auto-Shoot and Auto-Focus functions and are displayed in the embedded 3.5-inch color high-resolution LCD display with advanced touchscreen capabilities. The optical field of view of 45 degrees and 7 fixation points for peripheral photography allow a complete field of view of 80 degrees. These features help perform more exams in less time with outstanding quality only comparable with high-end non-portable cameras.
The Ezer EZ-Horus 45 retinal camera stores the images and videos in a memory card and easily transfers them via Wi-Fi or cable to a laptop, PC or to the internet in various diagnostic, telemedicine and electronic medical record scenarios used by leading hospitals and eye clinics in the U.S.
Vital Stats: US Ophthalmic also offers feature-rich accessories for the Ezer EZ-Horus such as the jig accessory, the slit lamp adapter, the anterior segment lens, and software for the diagnostic and control of glaucoma and macular degeneration.

drchrono Launches New Unified Task Management in EHR Platform

More Images
Product: Unified Task Management for EHR
Top Line: drchrono Inc. is launching a new enterprise Unified Task Management feature which is now available within its EHR.
Close Up: The new Unified Task Management improves workflow for physicians and staff, allowing them to create tasks, including recurring tasks, from wherever they are in the platform. Physicians and staff can now assign tasks to teams/groups of people, such as the front desk team, and have information automatically populate right into the specific task. Providers can attach lab results, clinical notes, medications and refill requests to a task. Launching a task within the EHR allows the task creator to pull in information with context from the relevant screen they are on, letting the tasker work more efficiently. For example, if a doctor is working on a specific patient's chart and they need to create a task for a medical assistant (MA), the physician can import all of the relevant information with a few clicks or taps, not having to retype any information; it is a “smart” task where applicable information is attached.
In addition, drchrono’s new Task Dashboard gives the practice a view of all tasks from open to closed, statuses and priorities and the time it takes to complete a task. The Task Dashboard is ideal to view where a specific task is taking too much time and needs to be optimized. Also, care teams can see when a specific group of tasks are urgent, things bubble to the top of the Dashboard clearly for the team to see what needs to be completed first.
Vital Stats: These features will also be part of drchrono’s new Task Management:
• Real-time reminders and notifications for staff, for example push notifications from iOS.
• Triggering tasks from the provider filling out a medical form.
• Adding subtasks within tasks to create more complex workflows.
