April is Stress Awareness Month, an annual designation that’s been observed since 1992. It’s a time when many health care professionals increase public awareness about the causes of stress and ways stress can be treated or reduced. Stress can lead to emotional and physical problems such as depression, panic attacks, high blood pressure, arthritis and skin conditions. It can also lead to many stress-related eye issues like blurry vision, watery or dry eyes, eye twitching, dizziness and eye strain.

In addition to ushering in Spring, March is also Workplace Eye Wellness month. Regardless of one’s occupation, whether it’s in construction or an office job that requires extended use of computers, taking care of the eyes should always be a priority.

Many people (rightfully) associate February with love, romance, candy hearts and dark chocolate. But February is also National AMD and Low Vision Awareness Month, which gives many eyecare professionals an opportunity to address the realities of vision loss and inform people how they can take care of their eyes.
