EVANSVILLE, Ind.—Singer Optical Co. (www.singeroptical.com), a 74-year-old independent laboratory located here, has transitioned to its third generation of Singer family ownership. The company has changed ownership from founder Fred Singer to Fred’s two sons Roger and Martin, to now Martin and his son, Ben Singer.

“Our lab is our legacy, and I am proud to keep the business independent and in the family,” Ben Singer said. “Independence is an important part of the industry too. I am excited to continue the work Fred, Roger and Martin started, as an independent.” Established in 1948 by Fred Singer, Singer Optical has been serving independent eye-care providers for nearly 75 years across Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and Illinois. The full-service lab offers name brands and private label lenses and coatings out of their 15,000 square foot facility in Southern Indiana.

The lab has seen growth and innovation over the course of its history, but the core family values and roots have remained the same, Ben Singer said. “For a business to remain in operation for nearly 75 years is amazing. For that business to remain in the same family and be in optical is truly incredible. We wholeheartedly appreciate the trust and relationships with each ECP that have gotten us this far.”
