NEW YORK—For readers of VM's The Independent Eye, every day is a day to focus on small, independent eyewear businesses. But at CO, the special resource created for small businesses in all sectors by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, last week was special—it was The Big Week for Small Business, a series of videos, speakers and special programs that was designed to inspire and help small businesses "navigate uncertain times." CO, which always has as its mission a range of services, tips, inspiration and help to encourage local business and independent initiatives, offers a range of webinars, e-news updates and programs designed to help people find the resources they need to start or expand their own initiatives.

The Big Week for Small Business recognized the intense challenges faced by small business owners in 2020. But it acknowledged that there was much resilience to be celebrated. Running from Oct. 13 to 15, The Big Week for Small Business brought together a panel of business people to share their insights and talk about some of the big issues still facing business owners and what they should be thinking about as 2020 closes.

There was also a Q&A with audience members. The primary panel was moderated by CO content director Jeanette Mulvey and included insights from Neil Bradley, executive vice president and chief policy officer at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce; Manny Cosme, president and CEO of CFO Services Group; and Lenore Horton, partner at FisherBroyles, LLP. Following the panel, Bradley then spoke with the Hon. Jovita Carranza, administrator for the Small Business Administration.

Other sessions featured chef Marcus Samuelsson, talking about the future of restaurants and the founders of the Skimm discussing business success.

CO offers day-in and day-out practice information about everything from HR to legal to real estate issues in addition to thought leaders in the small business arena.
