Assessing the Value of Promoted Facebook Posts

NEW YORK—, which works with ECPs on the development of their digital and social media presence, has examined the recent development of promoted or sponsored Facebook posts:

With all the effort we put into our Facebook page posts, it is natural to wonder how many of our fans actually see them. Wouldn't it be nice if we could have some guarantee that most of our fans would see what we are trying to share with them?

Well now we can have that assurance, at a price of course. In May, Facebook released Promoted Posts. For as little as $5.00, businesses can promote a post, which guarantees that the post will reach a much larger percentage of the page's fans and their friends as well.

Giving vs. Getting Information: How the Internet Is Used in Your Office

By Alan Glazier, OD, FAAO

ROCKVILLE, Md.—Whether we were brought up near California beaches or not, we all surf...the internet that is. When we are surfing the internet for work purposes, we are usually "getting" information, looking up stuff or entering data.

In our office, we use the internet in all these ways, but in our practice we also use it to find and give information to our patients at many other junctures, and we also use it as our own public relations tool.

Smartphone Shopping Is a Pronounced Shift in Consumer Behavior, comScore Reports

RESTON, Va.—Four out of five smartphone users accessed retail content on their device this past summer and the numbers are growing. comScore, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCOR), a leader in measuring the digital world, released a study in September this year about U.S. smartphone shopping behavior based on data from its comScore Mobile Metrix 2.0 service. The study found that 85.9 million total smartphone users accessed retail content on their device in July. Amazon Sites led as the top retailer with an audience of 49.6 million visitors, while multi-channel retailers including Apple (17.7 million visitors), Wal-Mart (16.3 million visitors), Target (10 million visitors) and Best Buy (7.2 million visitors) also attracted significant mobile audiences.

"With nearly 86 million Americans now shopping on their smartphones, this pronounced shift in consumer behavior is simply too large for retailers to ignore, with the future of their business depending on how well they adapt to the new environment," said Mark Donovan, comScore SVP of mobile.
