Facebook seems simple. After all your Mom is using it, right? There are a lot of reasons your Facebook page isn't getting the rabid fan-base you think it deserves. Four Steps to a Better Web Presence for Your ECP Practice

By Bob Main, FNAO

What is your practice doing to meet the changing online shopping habits of consumers (a.k.a. your patients)? If your practice is like most, the answer is, "not much." Many ECPs are still trying to "figure it out." Nobody taught you how to grow a practice using the internet and social media in school, so where do you start?

Rather than get overwhelmed with the fact that your practice has a long way to go to get a solid foundation, think of it as a four step approach:

  1. A professionally designed website
  2. An engaging Facebook business page
  3. An online review management program
  4. A patient engagement program

Latest Pew Study Shows The Internet Is a De Facto Second Opinion For Many, While Health Professionals Are People's Top Choice

WASHINGTON, D.C.—One in three U.S. adults say that at one time or another they have gone online specifically to try to figure out what medical condition they or someone else might have. And yet medical professionals are still most people's top choice when they are dealing with a serious health concern, according to a new survey just released this month by the Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project.

Among those who have used online information to try to diagnose themselves or someone else, 53 percent say they later saw a medical professional to talk about their concerns. Clinicians were more likely than not to confirm the online diagnosis.
