ECPs Make Progress on Websites

NEW YORK—In a wide-ranging study, which is comparative to prior year surveys, Jobson Research's 2012 ECP Internet Usage Study provides a range of insights into how many eyecare professionals are using digital media. The report spans a wide range of topics, asking ECPs about their personal and professional digital media and social media participation as well as querying them about the types of digital media sites and social media groups/tools they use on a regular basis. The survey also questions ECPs about their practices' use of online ordering (on the upswing) and their use of e-mail and social media to interact with patients.

Steps to a Better Web Presence: Dealing With Reviews And Cultivating Patient Engagement

By Bob Main, FNAO

In the lightning-quick digital media realm, many eyecare professionals are still just getting started and can feel stumped about how to improve their web presence.

In the January 30 edition of CLICK Solutions we discussed taking a four step approach and we explored the first of those two steps: First—A professionally designed practice website. And, Second—An engaging Facebook business page.

In this edition, let's focus on the next steps: Three—Establishing an online review management program and Four—Establishing a patient engagement program.

Cool Tools

As more practices establish Twitter accounts and their ranks of "followers" grow, there's often a need to manage and analyze their own – and their competition's – Twitter activities, comments and followers. Beyond what Twitter itself can offer via its own stats pages, TwentyTweet offers monitoring and tracking tools to help businesses not only measure their social media stats but monitor what others are doing in a more convenient way.

Want to know what your patients think? Want to explore patient satisfaction and customer services issues? MicroPoll enables users to create and add simple polls to a practice or business website with a series of settings, format questions and other options. Questions can be multiple choice or 'yes' and 'no' as well as checkboxes and drop-down variations.

Sites to See has been reimagined, with a modern, easy-to-navigate new design developed to help readers explore Altair's growing portfolio of eyewear brands which now include Anne Klein, bebe, Tommy Bahama, Joseph Abboud, JOE Joseph Abboud, Revlon and Sigrid Olsen. The website's individual "brand centers" highlight each brand's unique style, engaging content and product details.

London-based Zoobug is an award-winning brand of quality eyewear created for kids by an ophthalmologist. The company is now showcasing its 2013 optical and sunglass collections with an updated, contemporary redesigned website, highlighting the Zoobug universe, in which style, functionality and comfort are combined.
