VSP Encourages ECPs to Take Part in Online 'Edutainment' Game to Build Awareness of Vision Health and Benefits

By CLICK Staff

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif.— VSP Vision Care is kicking off a component of its larger consumer fall open enrollment campaign with the debut this week of “Your Eyes Deserve a VSP Vacation,” an online game on its SeeMuchMore.com site. The game is a new way that VSP and its ECP providers, the company said, is planning to educate consumers about why they should consider vision benefits for their families and the overall importance of eye health.

The new, interactive game is easy to play and offers prizes, ranging from designer sunglasses to a grand prize vacation to Maui, Hawaii, Orlando, Fla., New Orleans, La. or Vail, Colo. Users select “Have Fun and Learn” from the top navigation of SeeMuchMore, choosing an avatar to guide them through the game, choose a dream vacation destination and answer vision health questions to help their avatar see more clearly. Patients can also play the the instant-win round to win a pair of designer sunglasses – VSP will be giving away a pair a day – and earn additional grand prize entries by sharing the game with friends.

"Most Americans identify vision as one of their most important senses, yet don't know the basic facts about eye health. VSP has developed this unique, interactive game to educate consumers as they evaluate what benefits are most important during this open enrollment season," said Dave Dess, vice president of marketing, VSP Vision Care. "By making this an interactive learning experience, we hope to get the message across about how important these benefits truly are to your overall health in a fun, engaging way."

Digital and social media are involved in the campaign and, a spokesperson for VSP told CLICK, “We are encouraging doctors to feature the messages via their own social media pages and encourage patients to take part as well. The contest is visible on Facebook via VSP Vision Care’s page at www.facebook.com/vspvisioncare.
