LONDON—The International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) has kicked off its annual World Sight Day 2021 Photo Competition and named the members of its Judging Panel for the initiative. Since 2015, the IAPB World Sight Day Photo Competition has highlighted the importance of eye health, shining a light on the social and economic impact of vision loss. This year's competition will be expanded as IAPB is calling on photographers to submit images that champion the tireless efforts of health professionals and global culture, to celebrate those who work to ensure healthy vision for all.

The photo competition is made possible with support from Bayer. The IAPB World Sight Day 2021 Photo Competition is part of the IAPB World Sight Day #LoveYourEyes campaign. World Sight Day 2021 is on Oct. 14.

This photo competition initiative will accept submissions through Oct. 18 and winners will be announced Oct. 29. Details and all four categories of submission, designed to become an important part of raising awareness and celebrating why EveryoneCounts, are posted here. Submissions can be made at photocomp.iapb.org. Prizes include $1,000 U.S. dollars and a DSLR camera.

This year the competition has named five expert judges. “We are incredibly excited to bring this calibre of judging to our annual competition. They represent a diverse range of experience. Some of the best and brightest in the photography industry, individuals who are at the forefront of championing inclusion and equality, and those who stand for professional excellence,” said Joanna Conlon, director of development and communications at IAPB.

The judges for the IAPB World Sight Day 2021 Photo Competition include: world renowned celebrity photographer, Dave Hogan; founder and creator of The Valuable 500, Caroline Casey; multi-award-winning photographer, Michael Schoenfeld; journalist Marge Axelrad, SVP editorial director of Vision Monday and VMAIL; and inclusive eye health master trainer and consultant, Fatima Zehra.

The competition has attracted thousands of entrants from around the world and this year the judges are calling for a wider scope of submissions. “Our hope is that the competition gives amateur and professional photographers an opportunity to share the stories they’ve captured. We invite everyone to get involved,” added Conlon.
