NEW YORK—The summer is now in full swing and for those of us on the East Coast, we’re just glad the weather has stayed consistently warm these past couple of weeks. As we get into one of the hottest months of the year, we start to pull out those fresh pairs of sunglasses or maybe even recycle the ones from years prior. Either way, while prepping for those Fourth of July barbeques and beach visits, we cannot forget the importance of wearing SPF lotion and sunglasses to try and combat damage from harmful UV Rays.

This past Tuesday, The Vision Council once again encouraged the optical industry (and beyond) to urge patients to protect their eyes with its National Sunglasses Day campaign. With the hashtags #NationalSunglassesDay and #SunglassSelfie, the campaign garnered over 644 million impressions, beating last year’s record of 586 million. ECPs, associations and general social media users all took part in the event and shared their posts.

Here is a small compilation of what some ECPs shared via Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
