John Kennedy.

OXFORD, UK—Adlens, the adjustable focus eyewear manufacturer based here, announced that John Kennedy was appointed chief executive officer, effective March 1.

“John brings broad industry experience, data-intensive thought leadership and a proven track record of growth in his previous roles. Combined with his leadership, his credentials and his unique background, we are confident in John’s ability to lead Adlens’ mission of being the global leader in Variable Power Optics” said James Chen, co-founder, owner and board member.

“John will be instrumental in advancing our technology into the next stage of growth and we believe he is exactly what we need as we enter the next chapter of the business.”

Kennedy has business experience in multiple areas including management, operations, supply chain and marketing. His leadership helped triple revenue at MOO.com, an award-winning online print business, according to Adlens.

Prior to joining MOO.com, he was the managing director UK at Wayfair, the largest online-only retailer of home furnishings and housewares, leading the set up in the UK. Before that, he was the chief executive officer of Moyses Stevens, a responsibly sourced flower brand and the commercial and supply chain director at Green & Black’s, a producer of organic and fair-trade chocolate. Kennedy currently serves as non-executive director at the National Park Partnerships.

“I’m honored and I’m grateful to the board to lead the Adlens team” said Kennedy. “Adlens has that rare combination of leading products, amazingly talented people and dedication to technology innovation. The company is positioned to become the new global leader in Variable Power Optics. We are on a journey that we believe will transform the vision of all of us who wear glasses.”

Adlens COO Frank Lavety had served as interim CEO since the company’s previous CEO, Michael Ferrara, retired in fall, 2016.
