Carolyn N. Chakuroff, OD

ORLANDO, Fla.—The American Academy of Optometry Foundation has announced that Carolyn N. Chakuroff, OD, MS, as this year’s recipient of the Alfred A. Rosenbloom, Jr., Low Vision Residency Award. Dr. Chakuroff is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Optometry and an Ocular Disease/Low Vision Rehabilitation resident at the Kansas City VA Medical Center (KCVA). This award aims to provide incentive and support to talented optometric residents who demonstrate a passion and commitment to practice, research, and education in the field of low vision.

Candice A. Law, OD, MS, FAAO, chief of Visual Impairment Services Program at Kansas City VA Medical Center said, “Carolyn has truly excelled during her time at the KCVA. She is both an extraordinary clinician and person. Her compassion for her patients is evident in every patient exam and time she spends developing her art as a physician. She has truly been an asset to our program and to the fourth-year students she has taught.”

Alfred A. Rosenbloom, Jr., OD, DOS, FAAO, was a teacher, writer, lecturer, and administrator and was the recipient of numerous awards. Dr. Rosenbloom was one of the first Ezell Fellows, and published more than 75 professional journal articles on topics of low vision rehabilitation, optometric gerontology, optometric education, and public health, and co-authored three major textbooks including Vision and Aging.
