SAN RAMON, Calif.—CooperVision has announced the launch of its first-ever Best Practices Scholarship Program. The scholarship will be offered to outstanding third-year optometry students as an expansion of the company’s annual Best Practices initiative, which recognizes practices that advance the optometry profession through innovation, leadership, and exceptional patient experience. This scholarship will provide recipients with an all-expenses paid trip to the 2020 Best Practices Summit, a three-day event where they will be able to meet and collaborate with the year’s honorees.

Applicants must be third-year students in good academic standing at a U.S. optometry school. They must also demonstrate leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, and additional optometry related experience. Finally, applicants must be able to attend the Best Practices Summit on May 3-5, 2020.

Applications will be accepted through January 10, 2020. Interested students must submit a current resume and a one-minute video explaining their goals to impact the optometry field, and discuss how attending the Best Practices Summit will help. More information can be found on the Best Practices Summit page.

Michele Andrews, OD, CooperVision’s senior director of professional and academic affairs, North America, said, “Through our Best Practices program, we bring together the best of the best in optometry. Sharing their stories through this platform has been beneficial for not only the honorees, but other eye care professionals around the country. As we prepare to celebrate our fifth class of honorees, we thought there is no better way to continue the advancement of the profession than to include optometry students. With the addition of the Best Practices Scholarship, we hope to provide a valuable opportunity for our honorees to educate and inspire a new generation of optometrists.”
