NEW YORK—The Aug. 30 deadline is approaching for anyone to submit names to be considered for the Women in Optometry Theia Awards, which recognize female optometrists for their accomplishments in the categories of Leadership ( organizational or community leadership or advocacy ), Mentorship (active role in guiding others in practice management and more beyond optometry school), Innovation (outreach, marketing, practice models, inventions, etc.), Education (inspirational, motivational educator) and Young ODs (an OD within 10 years of graduation who shows any/all of the above qualities).

The awards, named for Theia, the Greek goddess of vision or sight, will be presented at a Women In Optometry networking event this November, and determined by the Women In Optometry professional advisory board. Nominations can be submitted at this link.
