NEW YORK—Special early bird registration has been extended for the upcoming VM Global Leadership Summit, "The Future of Healthcare: Beyond 2020." The exclusive event, which attracts senior industry executives, optical retailers, leading eyecare professionals, suppliers and key opinion leaders from the worldwide optical industry, will be held March 25 at The Times Center here. This year's 14th annual program will illuminate the dynamic changes taking place in the healthcare industry and examine the opportunities for vision care and optical to play a broader, more significant role in it. Thought leaders and influential thinkers will share their visions of healthcare’s future. Attendees will take away actionable ideas and practical strategies that will help them compete in today’s consumer-centric business environment.

"Healthcare is being shaken by powerful forces that are creating new forms of competition and transforming patients into consumers who are seeking pathways to wellness that offer convenience, affordability and personalized care," said Marge Axelrad, SVP and editorial director of the Vision Monday Group. "New market leaders are emerging, and established brands are reinventing themselves with fresh approaches and enhanced customer experiences. Doctor-patient relationships are being redefined. How will these transformative changes impact vision care providers and payors? Suppliers? We'll examine this at the Summit in 2020."

Among the topics covered at the Summit will be the consumerization of healthcare and how payers, plans and providers are lowering costs and improving outcomes. The program will also take a look at who’s funding healthcare’s future, the different ways in which Millennials and Boomers are accessing services, and how 5G systems, AI and other cutting edge technologies are expanding the ways consumers are interacting with providers, insurers and healthcare systems.

"At the 2020 Summit, we’re bringing together some of the top minds in healthcare to help us understand how these trends present both a challenge and an opportunity for vision care,” said Axelrad. “This program and the networking opportunity that the VM Summit provides will be a unique experience for our attendees, decision makers and innovators who want to move forward in this rapidly shifting landscape.”
