CALGARY, Alberta—FYidoctors, a leading optometrist-controlled eyecare company, announced that Kootenay Optometry is the latest clinic to join the FYidoctors organization. The addition marks the company’s continued expansion into British Columbia, where FYidoctors now operates 33 clinics across the province. This is the first addition to the FYidoctors group to be announced since the company reported last week that the private equity firm L Catterton had made a strategic minority equity investment in FYidoctors, as VMAIL reported

Kootenay Optometry operates two clinics in the West Kootenay region of British Columbia and has served the communities of Castlegar, Trail and surrounding areas for over 30 years, according to the announcement. Not only recognized locally as leaders in the optometry Kootenay also recently was awarded the 2019 World Sight Day Challenge Silver award from global fundraising initiative Optometry Giving Sight for its commitment to accessible vision care.

“Throughout my career, I have always admired FYidoctors and their commitment to providing exceptional eyecare and quality vision services to their patients,” Dr. Brent Allen of Kootenay Optometry said in the announcement. “Our decision to join the FYidoctors family stemmed from our shared belief in providing the highest level of care at a reasonable cost to our community.”

Under the FYidoctors banner, the clinic will have access to the benefits of FYidoctors’ internal freeform technology, which produces high-quality lenses from the ophthalmic laboratory in Delta, B.C., in addition to a variety of support and a wide range of designer frames.

“We couldn’t be more pleased with the addition of Kootenay Optometry to the FYidoctors family,” Dr. Alan Ulsifer, chairman and chief executive officer of FYidoctors, said. “Having served the West Kootenay region for decades, we’re confident that their commitment to providing comprehensive, personalized eyecare will only continue to thrive under FYidoctors.”
