TUCKER, Ga.—The National Association of Vision Care Plans (NAVCP) announced at that Dr. Daniel Levy, chief optometric officer of Guardian/Avēsis was unanimously approved at the organization's recent virtual board meeting to serve as the secretary and treasurer, a seat vacated by VSP’s Kate Renwick-Espinosa who assumed the chair-elect position at the April 2020 board of directors meeting. “I have represented Avēsis and now Guardian as a board member at NAVCP for seven years,” said Dr. Levy. “We are aligned with the commitment that NAVCP brings in innovation, education, and administration, as well as providing analytical data that show the value of annual eyecare and eye wear for all consumers.”

Dr. Levy has more than two decades of experience in clinical optometry as a practicing eyecare specialist in New York. He leads the clinical and eyecare services teams that set the standards of care, refine and implement policy, coordinate quality assurance, and serve as a strategic resource for eyecare services and programs. Together, they develop clinical protocols and guidelines for comprehensive eyecare.

“We are striving to create a solid leadership succession team that will ensure vision care is considered essential health care. Dr. Levy is a respected optometrist who will bring his wealth of experience and knowledge to the association,” said Julian Roberts, executive director, NAVCP. “The vision industry is rapidly evolving, and it remains critical that we maintain a strong voice to continue advocating, collaborating and simplifying the industry. I welcome Dr. Levy’s enthusiasm during these transformational times.”

NAVCP is a nonprofit association serving as a unified voice for the managed vision care industry and its member companies operate extensive networks of vision care providers in all 50 states. Those networks cover approximately 170 million (53 percent) Americans.

For more than 40 years, Avēsis has been a national administrator of vision, dental, and hearing care plans. Avēsis is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America (Guardian), one of the nation’s largest mutual life insurers and a leading provider of employee benefits.
