LEWISVILLE, Texas—Hoya Vision Care announced today the acquisition of Nexus Vision Group, headquartered in Grove City, Ohio, and its affiliated laboratory partners in five states. The purchase price was not announced.

“This acquisition expands Hoya’s U.S. footprint, establishes a greater local presence and allows us to better serve our customers,” said Barney Dougher, president of Hoya Vision Care, Americas. “Nexus and their five affiliated labs have demonstrated a strong commitment over the years in supporting independent optometry and those values,” he said.

Gerry Shaw, owner of Western Carolina Optical and principal with Nexus, commented, “We are very excited to join Hoya. Hoya has a number of resources such as Empower U and ‘Building a Blue Light Practice’ that are designed to strengthen the independent ECP practice. These resources, coupled with Hoya technology and values, will help advance practice profitability and provide the best vision solutions for patients.”

Nexus Vision Group was ranked 12th among U.S. independent wholesale laboratories in Vision Monday’s 2015 Top Labs Report, based on estimated Rx sales of $14.5 million and the production of 825 Rx jobs per day.
