Nevil “Nev” Trotter

BATH, England—Inspecs Group PLC (LSE: SPEC), the global eyewear design house and manufacturer, has announced the appointment of Nevil “Nev” Trotter as general manager of Norville, the Group’s manufacturer of optically advanced spectacle lenses. Inspecs acquired Norville from the Administrator on July 14 of this year, as VMAIL previously reported, providing the Group with a full lens offering domestically and globally. Following the acquisition, the Group immediately launched a search for a new general manager to run operations, the company said.

A highly-experienced industry leader, Trotter joins Inspecs from Specsavers, where he was a partner and director of group manufacturing and distribution technologies. He worked at Specsavers for the last 13 years, most recently responsible for the manufacturing and supply chain excellence, as well as the global project delivery and system integration. Trotter was instrumental in delivering supply chain fulfilment for the Specsavers’ global move into e-commerce, as well as a successful market expansion, the announcement said.

Prior to his career in the optical industry and following a degree in manufacturing engineering and management at the Loughborough University of Technology, Trotter spent the majority of his career in the manufacturing sector: he spearheaded major change and growth programs for large international enterprises including Rolls Royce, GKN, Princess Yachts and BAE Systems.

Robin Totterman, Inspecs' chief executive, said, “I am delighted that Nev has agreed to join Inspecs to run Norville. He brings a significant array of experience, expertise and knowledge of the optical industry and we look forward to leveraging this to build on Norville's heritage and transform its future. I have no doubt that he will be a great asset to the group as we look to further build our online offering and continue to extend the Group’s manufacturing capability.”

Trotter added, “I am thrilled to be joining the Inspecs Group to help Robin and the team develop and grow the Norville offering. This is an exciting opportunity to work with one of the industry’s oldest manufacturing brands and I have no doubt that being part of Inspecs will help me to accelerate and release Norville’s true potential.”
