NEW YORK and PARIS—Kering (KER.PA) has announced that its subsidiary, Kering Eyewear, and the Maison Cartier, owned by Compagnie Financière Richemont, plan to enter into a strategic partnership bringing their operations together to create a stronger platform for the development, manufacturing and worldwide distribution of the Cartier eyewear collection, the company said.

Under the terms of the agreement, Richemont will acquire a minority stake in Kering Eyewear, a specialist company fully dedicated to the eyewear activity of 12 brands of the Kering Group which include Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, Brioni, Christopher Kane, McQ, Stella McCartney, Tomas Maier, Boucheron, Pomellato and Puma.

Kering Eyewear will integrate the Manufacture Cartier Lunettes entity in Sucy-en-Brie, France.

Subject to closing, the Cartier 2018 Spring Summer collection, which will be presented during Silmo in Paris (Oct. 6 to 9, 2017), marks the official beginning of the partnership.
