ISELIN, N.J., and CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.—Omni Ophthalmic Management Consultants, a portfolio company of NMS Capital (NMS), announced last week that it has established a “strategic partnership” with Ludwick Eye Center, a market-leading regional provider of medical-surgical eyecare services with three locations in Pennsylvania and Maryland. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Ludwick, based in Chambersburg, Pa., said its staff ophthalmologists and optometrists specialize in a range of general and surgical procedures, including laser cataract surgery, glaucoma management and treatment, eyelids (oculoplastics), dry eye treatment, Lasik, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration and general eyecare. In addition to Chambersburg, Ludwick offices are located in Hagerstown, Md., and Waynesboro, Pa.

“Ludwick marks our first affiliation in Maryland, while at the same time [it] supports our strategy of building density in our existing markets by adding three additional clinics and two ambulatory surgery centers in the Mid-Atlantic,” Christopher Quinn, OD, chief executive officer of Omni, said in the announcement. “Ludwick’s reputation in the Pennsylvania and Maryland markets is unparalleled and we are excited to begin our partnership with Drs. [David} Ludwick, [Shawn] Weigel, and their team.”

David Ludwick, MD, an owner and surgeon at Ludwick, said the partnership with Omni presents an opportunity for Ludwick and its employees to build upon a strong foundation. “Ludwick has been providing high-quality eyecare in the Mid-Atlantic for over two decades and we believe this affiliation will enable us to expand the resources available to our patients and providers alike,” he added.

NMS partner Luis Gonzalez noted that the Ludwick partnership “significantly expands our footprint in Pennsylvania and serves as Omni’s entry into Maryland, its fifth state.”

He added, “This transaction represents Omni’s fourth affiliation in less than two years and solidifies our presence as one of the largest ophthalmology groups in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic with 70 providers across 20 practice locations, including four ambulatory surgery centers and combined revenue in excess of $100 million.”

Omni, by design, offers no primary care optometric services, but promotes a partnership between optometry and ophthalmology to deliver exceptional vision care, according to the firm’s website. Founded in 1998, Omni provides eyecare services through a network of 20 offices, including several that operate ophthalmology-focused ambulatory surgery centers, throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland.
