WESTBURY, N.Y.—Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island (OCLI), a Spectrum Vision Partners managed practice, has announced a partnership with the glaucoma and laser cataract surgeon Paul L. Krawitz, MD, and optometrist Christopher Lutz, OD, of Huntington Eye Care of Long Island, N.Y. The two ECPs are joining the ophthalmology and optometry team at OCLI, according to the announcement earlier this week. The partnership will give OCLI a second location in Huntington, N.Y. The Huntington Eye Care team will continue to practice exclusively out of the 755 Park Avenue location in Huntington, the announcement noted. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

“The partnership with OCLI is the right decision for me, my team and my patients,” Krawitz said in the statement. “We share the same values of providing exceptional ophthalmic care for Long Islanders with compassion and integrity.”

Krawitz is an ophthalmologist who has been practicing for more than 30 years. He received his medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, followed by internal medicine training at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York. Krawitz also is an assistant clinical professor at Columbia University with surgical expertise in the treatment of cataracts and glaucoma.

Spectrum Vision Partners chief executive officer Tom Burke said the management firm is “thrilled to further strengthen the OCLI practice hub with the addition of the Huntington Eye Care team. Doctors Krawitz and Lutz are highly regarded by their patients and the surrounding Huntington community.”

He also noted that Spectrum Vision Partners expects to continue its plan to further expand OCLI service locations on Long Island. In May, OCLI announced that it had established a partnership with the ophthalmology practice Eye Care Associates/Glaucoma Consultants of Long Island (ECA/GCLI), which has locations in Bethpage and Lake Success, N.Y., as VMAIL reported

Founded in 1997, OCLI now has 16 state-of-the-art medical facilities across Nassau and Suffolk counties, and is led by 39 eye surgeons in each major sub-specialty of eyecare. OCLI also employs four ODs.

Spectrum Vision Partners, a management services organization serving the ophthalmology practice and ambulatory surgery center sector, was formed in 2017 with the support of an investment from private equity firm Blue Sea Capital LLC.
