MASON, Ohio—Pearle Vision announced this week that it has signed a new area development agreement for the Sacramento, Calif., market. Businessman Sachin Patel, whose wife operates a LensCrafters office in California, plans to open three Pearle Vision EyeCare Centers to serve the areas of Sacramento, Roseville, Rockland and Elk Grove. Pearle Vision earlier this year announced franchise development agreements covering about a dozen office locations in California and Colorado markets, as VMAIL reported.

Pearle Vision licensed owners who obtain an area development agreement are granted exclusive territory rights and pay a reduced franchise fee and lower royalty fees, according to Pearle Vision's announcement.

A former sales and marketing executive, Patel previously introduced the Eyeglass World concept in the Sacramento area and grew it to the No. 1 store in the company with no previous optical experience, according to Pearle Vision’s announcement. His wife owns a LensCrafters sublease, where Patel is responsible for business operations, including recruiting optometrists, human resources and payroll, patient satisfaction and retention strategies.

“I am passionate about understanding what our customers need so that we can help them improve their lives,” Patel said in the announcement. “Pearle Vision’s priority to ‘take care of the people’ aligns perfectly with how I approach my work. That’s what drew me to the company.”

“Sachin’s success in driving a new-to-market store to the top of the company demonstrates his strong leadership, commitment to patient care and passion for driving results,” said Josh Robinson, vice president of licensing and development at Pearle Vision. “We are excited for Sachin to launch his new EyeCare Centers and deliver high-quality vision care to the Sacramento community.”

Pearle Vision, a unit of Luxottica Retail, operates 546 EyeCare Centers throughout the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. Of these locations, there are 110 corporate stores and 436 franchise locations, a Pearle Vision spokeswoman told VMAIL on Wednesday.
