BERLIN—Premium Equity Partners, an investment company, has acquired majority shares of Berlin eyewear manufacturer, ic! berlin.

The focus will remain on organizational growth through the development of new international markets and expansion in, and acquisition of new target groups, the company said.

Ralph Anderl, who until now was the sole owner of the company, will take on the new position as a member of the advisory board. According to the company, the advisory board is completely new and will consist of Ralph Anderl, Jorg Reinhold, Wolfgang Rebstock and Premium Equity Partners. Reinhold has also been named the new CEO of ic! berlin by way of succession plan.

“With Premium I was able to successfully initiate the succession for my company,” Anderl said. “Together we will continue along ic! berlin’s unapologetic path. I am happy that we were able to inspire our new co-owners with our plans for the future. As a worldwide sheet-metal-glasses-salesman I will always be closely connected to the company.”

Additionally, ic! berlin will remain “Made in Germany and handmade in Berlin.”

Marcel van Wijk, CEO of Premium added, “We look forward to implementing the plans for growth with ic! berlin. The international presence, the production and design know-how and the dynamics of the ic! berlin team provide an excellent basis.”

With regard to how customers and accounts will work with the company, ic! berlin has said that nothing will change meaning “that our local sales reps throughout the U.S., Canada and South America are still in place, and our team in New York City will still spearhead operations throughout the Americas. As a company, we will continue to provide the best customer service possible and the highest quality product that our customers have come to love.”

The company continued, “ic! berlin’s DNA—representing the highest standards in manufacturing, quality and comfort for every single pair of glasses—remains unchanged. The brand will further position itself in the future as a leader in design and innovation for sophisticated target groups worldwide.”

ic! berlin employs around 190 employees in Berlin and in locations across Europe, Asia and North America.
