“We wanted to celebrate the long history of the Wayfarer and expose and energize the brand in the right context for a younger generation. It was a natural for us to celebrate the legend of the brand and pair the most iconic style of the brand, the Wayfarer, with rock and roll because the Wayfarer and rock and roll are both expressions of individuality,” said Pierre Fay, senior vice president of Luxottica.
“It is positive and exciting to re-launch the Wayfarer as one of the complements of a major repositioning program for Ray Ban,” continued Fay. “Since Luxottica acquired Ray Ban from Bausch and Lomb in 1999, we have doubled the size of the worldwide business. For the past six years, it has enjoyed double digit growth. Tonight is the kick off of an aggressive plan to double the growth again over the next year.”
