ATLANTA—SECO International has announced that SECO, a leading conference providing the ophthalmic industry educational opportunities since 1924, has opened registration for the 20/20 industry event. With the kickoff of the registration cycle, the optometry community also is encouraged to recognize outstanding optometric professionals within the SECO member states with the annual call for nominations to award SECO Optometrist of the Year, SECO Paraoptometric of the Year, and SECO Young Optometrist of the Year. When SECO 20/20 is held March 4-8, 2020, in Atlanta, attendees will have access to more than 50 continuing education credits over the course of the five-day event, with more than 30 of the credits offered over the weekend. The event will feature an array of industry-leading continuing education geared to professionals in all areas: Optometrists, Ophthalmologists, Optometric Students/Residents; Opticians, Opticianry Students/Residents Paraoptometrics, Ophthalmic Medical Technicians, and Administrators, according to the announcement. SECO offers more than 400 hours of continuing education.

“The 20/20 SECO education program is a diverse mix of clinical, technical, and business content developed by a committee of volunteers dedicated to creating a world class conference,” SECO continuing education general chair Paul C. Ajamian said. “Tapping brand name speakers that you have come to expect as well as emerging thought leaders, you’ll find both topics and learning formats to suit your specific needs and enrich your knowledge. The theme for SECO 20/20 is A Perfect View of What’s Ahead. Get a comprehensive look at the research, technology, and techniques that are propelling our profession forward.”

SECO also issued its annual call for nominations to recognize outstanding optometry professionals. Optometric professionals are encouraged to identify and recognize outstanding individuals for their contributions and dedication to optometry. SECO International will accept award nominations in three prestigious award categories: Optometrist of the South, Paraoptometric of the South, and Young Optometrist of the South.

Nominations will be accepted through Nov. 30. Selected honorees will be recognized during the SECO House of Delegates meeting at SECO 20/20, Saturday, March 7, 2020.
