ATLANTA—SECO International, the annual conference providing eyecare professionals with educational opportunities since 1923, has announced a partnership with the National Academy of Opticianry (NAO) to expand virtual education opportunities for opticians via the SECOUniversity.com platform. The NAO, founded in 1963, represents over 4,000 opticians worldwide and is committed to providing opticianry education and training in a variety of formats. Their mission is dedicated solely to education and training of all opticians. “The NAO’s core values are rooted in providing all opticians, beginning to advanced, the educational resources they need to succeed with quality, relevant content delivered by key thought leaders,” NAO president Russ Tolar said in the announcement. “SECO’s mission is aligned with these values, and we are confident that our members will benefit from the partnership.”

The inaugural offering of the SECO/NAO collaboration will include three full days of ABO/NCLE accredited opticianry online webinar education for the fall of 2020. NAO LIVE CE Saturdays powered by SECO are currently scheduled for Oct. 10, Nov. 14, and Dec. 5.

“SECO International is pleased with the opportunity to join forces with the NAO to develop and deliver cost-effective remote education for opticians,” added Max Raynor, OD, president of SECO International LLC.

“Expanding the educational opportunities and offering high quality content, while utilizing innovative formats, is key to meeting our organization’s mission of providing continuing education worldwide to all eyecare professionals,” Raynor added. “We look forward to collaborating with the NAO as they bring distinct and diverse knowledge and experience to the SECO community. Working together we ultimately provide better patient experiences and outcomes.”
