RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif.—VSP Global has announced that Marvin Davenport has been named the organization’s first chief diversity officer. In the role, Davenport is responsible for accelerating the organization’s diversity and inclusion (D&I) strategy and will oversee all D&I programs and initiatives, the company said. He will also focus on developing solutions that enable a more engaged workforce, enhance responses to diverse stakeholder needs and position teams to better leverage D&I, furthering a culture of inclusiveness and performance, according to the announcement.

“As we continue the important work to listen, learn and make meaningful changes to accelerate our diversity, inclusion, and equity efforts, Marvin’s unique experience and knowledge will help ensure accountability at all levels of the organization,” said VSP Global president and CEO Michael Guyette. “We are committed to this journey to drive greater understanding and opportunity for our employees as well as the diverse communities we proudly serve.” Guyette's comments reinforced the VSP's June statement on racial injustice posted on its site.

Davenport will report to Kristi Cappelletti-Matthews, VSP Global’s chief human resources officer, with a dotted line to Guyette.

Davenport joins VSP Global with more than a decade in D&I leadership roles, most recently with Amazon Web Services. He brings years of experience in designing and leading cross-functional D&I programs, business processes, systems, and scorecards across many industries—from retail to cloud computing to defense and aerospace.

“I’m thrilled to join the VSP Global family,” said Davenport. “It’s an honor to build upon this purpose-led organization’s D&I efforts and collaborate across the workforce to carry forward a culture powered by inclusiveness and diverse perspectives.”
