RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif.—VSP Global has renamed its ophthalmic operations line of business as VSP Optics Group. While no organizational changes will accompany the name change, the new name better reflects the broad functions that VSP Optics Group offers to VSP’s network of 26,000 private practice doctors, including its wholly-owned and partner laboratories, contract lab network, and the development and marketing of privately branded ophthalmic products, according to VSP.

“Our new identity as VSP Optics Group allows us to better convey who we are and what we do on behalf of eyecare professionals and their patients,” said VSP Optics Group president Don Oakley. “Now, better defined as VSP Optics Group, we look toward our future of providing great ophthalmic products, advanced laboratory capabilities and exceptional service to meet the needs of the eyecare community.”

Under VSP Optics Group, VSP Labs will retain its brand name, representing the four wholly-owned laboratories—VSP Labs—Sacramento, Calif., VSP Labs – Columbus, Ohio, Legends 4.0 Optical Laboratory, in Lewisville, Texas, and Ultra Lens Optical Laboratory, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. In partnership with Carl Zeiss Vision, VSP has ownership in Perfect Optics, in Vista, Calif. and Tri-City Optical, in Clearwater, Fla. With Essilor, VSP is also a minority partner in Rhode Island-based McLeod Optical.

VSP’s privately branded ophthalmic products—including VSP Reveal and Reveal Freeform progressive lenses with Optics by Carl Zeiss and Inspire and Inspire HD, Powered by Essilor—will also align under VSP Optics Group, retaining their brand names.
