Quick Take: In honor of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month in March, De Rigo’s house brand Yalea is supporting the I was a Sari project dedicated to Indian women.
Specifics: With the purchase of a pair of Yalea-branded sunglasses or prescription glasses from selected opticians, consumers will receive a silk eyewear pouch made from discarded saris. Each pouch is unique, personalized with the Yalea logo and packaged in recyclable cardboard. 
Selling Point: The I was a Sari project reuses fabric deadstock while supporting female artisans in India. Of the brand’s 170 artisans, 57 percent had never worked before, 55 percent moved to Mumbai from rural areas, 51 percent dropped out of school by 15 years old and 36 percent look after 3 or more children.
