Quick Take: Frame Chain, a London-based luxury eyewear accessories company, has launched a collaboration with Tarrence Lackran, director of partnerships and programming at The Vision Council, known as @theopticalpoet on Instagram.
Specifics: Frame Chain x The Optical Poet will feature the Time For Change Chain, designed to “bring awareness to the need for more BIPOC diversity and inclusion in society,” Frame Chain said in a statement. The chain features a double strand design—one strand is a black Czech shiny glass beaded chain and the other is a shorter matte black Figaro chain.
Lackran said, “It’s an honor to work with the boss ladies at FRAME CHAIN on my first collaboration. Their design model that draws inspiration from vintage jewelry and uses unique materials is something I have always appreciated about fashion accessories. However, what really made this collaboration perfect is their passion for diversity and regular support for philanthropic causes that align with my values.”
Frame Chain’s Vanessa Harrington said, “We met the Optical Poet back in the old days when events were possible. We were immediately struck by his energy, expertise and of course banging style! When he told us about this new initiative we knew immediately we had to be involved.”
Frame Chain’s Ann-Margret Kearney said, “We believe that we should all try to leave the world better than we found it - we do what we can when we can and hope that we can help someone one step closer to the future they want.”
Selling Point: 100 percent of the profits from sales will go to the Open Your Eyes Scholarship Program which was recently launched by the Better Vision Institute, the related educational foundation of The Vision Council, to provide full funding to opticianry school for high school students and recent high school graduates from marginalized communities. The scholarship will also support students through paid internships and mentorships. The intent of the program is to launch a far-reaching effort that can expand to other segments of the industry.
Pre-orders for Frame Chain are now open. Until February 28, the optical community is encouraged to shop Frame Chain’s website with the code “OYES” to receive 50 percent off all orders, 10 percent of which will be donated to the scholarship program.
