Quick Take: Following the 75th Anniversary of the United States Air Force in 2022, two American military-rooted brands, Randolph and Alpha Industries, have partnered to launch the Sapphire Capsule Collection that debuts a co-branded CWU 45/P bomber jacket and Military Aviator.
Specifics: The Alpha Industries x Randolph collection is made up of the Randolph X Alpha Industries CWU 45/P Bomber Jacket and the Alpha Industries x Randolph Military Aviator. Both Alpha Industries and Randolph were awarded contracts by the U.S. Department of Defense, in 1959 and 1978 respectively, to produce apparel and eyewear for American service members. Alpha Industries long specialized in N-3B parkas, MA-1 flight jackets and the M-65 Field Coat made legendary during the Vietnam War, while Randolph outfitted fighter pilots with HGU-4/P Aviator sunglasses, handcrafted in the U.S to strict guidelines and complex manufacturing specifications.
The CWU 45/P Bomber jacket comes in a mid-weight and water-resistant outer fabric, lined with custom sapphire digital camo and complete with Randolph x Alpha Industries removable Aviator carrier patch to hold and display the Aviator frames. Additional features are the custom embroidered co-branded patches on the chest and sleeves.
The co-branded aviator sunglasses, available in both Skyforce Nylon polarized and non-polarized technologies, come in a polished chrome with an Atlantic blue mirror lens inspired by the sapphire gem honoring the USAF 75-year anniversary. This capsule comes with a military replica case, custom sapphire camo cleaning cloth and retro co-branded box. Frames are available in 55MM & 58MM.
Selling Point: Today, both brands remain family owned and operated and continue to produce the classic military silhouettes that are core to their heritage.
