VIENNA, Va.—MyEyeDr. has announced two additions to its practice transitions team, Dr. Rob Allen and Matt Swartz. The two have joined the company’s transitions group and will work closely with optometrists on “finding a long-term home for their practice with MyEyeDr.,” according to the announcement this week. Swartz will lead MyEyeDr. partnership efforts in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas, while Dr. Allen will work with optometrists across the country. Each brings extensive industry experience to the organization, the announcement noted.

Billy Murray, MyEyeDr.’s executive vice president of practice transitions, said, “I am honored that Dr. Allen and Matt are joining our team given their deep relationships with optometrists and understanding of the partnership landscape.”  
 
MyEyeDr. ended 2021 with 817 locations across the nation, after an active year in the practice transitions area with more than 150 new eyecare locations added to the group.
 
Allen is a recognized leader of the eyecare profession. As a founding partner and chief executive officer of Associates in Eyecare (AIE), he led the growth and expansion of the group to 10 offices. Under his leadership, AIE became one of the dominant optometric practices in the Washington, D.C., metro area.
 
AIE became a partner practice with MyEyeDr. in December 2021, as VMAIL reported.
 
Allen is a past president of the Virginia Optometric Association as well as the Northern Virginia Optometric Society and he has served as a SECO interim trustee  He is a Fellow of the Virginia Academy of Optometry and serves as its education chair. Allen also is involved in various capacities with several professional and charitable organizations. 
 
Among those, Allen is a founding board member of Medical Optometry America, a successful model that provides only medical optometric care to patients.  
 
In recognition of his efforts on behalf of his patients and the profession, he was named Virginia’s Young Optometrist of the Year (2000) and Optometrist of the Year (2017).  Allen currently serves as the vice chairman of the board of Oatlands Historic House and Gardens in Leesburg, Va., a National Historic Trust property.

Matt Swartz has spent the majority of his career helping independent eyecare professionals to grow their practice profitability, provide differentiating quality, service, technology, and expertly maneuver in a fast-changing, challenging environment.
 
An industry veteran with over 24 years’ experience, Swartz led strategic accounts strategy for Essilor and developed the sales and strategic strategy for an industry start-up. His passion is deeply focused on building high-performance teams, strategy for multi-location, multimillion dollar eyecare partnerships, and a deep focus on simple, turnkey tools and resources.
 
Upon joining MyEyeDr., Swartz said, “After spending almost 25 years in the eyecare industry working closely with doctors on growing their practices, I couldn’t be more excited to now help those same doctors transition their life’s work to the best in the industry at practice partnerships.”
