Sherianne James.
NEW YORK—EssilorLuxottica announced that it has named Sherianne James as chief marketing officer and senior vice president of wholesale marketing for North America. An accomplished leader with over 25 years of marketing experience, James will now lead EssilorLuxottica’s combined commercial marketing efforts across N.A. including both its eyewear and lens brands. She will report directly to Fabrizio Uguzzoni, president of Wholesale North America for EssilorLuxottica. James has served as chief marketing officer for Essilor of America since 2017, where she led high-performing teams to deliver transformational growth for the world's leading lens brands including Transitions, Varilux and Crizal.

The company said, "Her proven success in the optical industry and consumer packaged goods will help EssilorLuxottica Wholesale accelerate the company’s eyewear and eyecare brands, programs, and services that help its customers succeed in today’s market." Alessandro Mariani, VP of marketing for Luxottica Wholesale, will report to Sherianne and will continue to lead the company’s work on eyewear brands.

“We are making unprecedented investments in R&D and pushing the industry forward by developing products that will improve people’s lives. Having one leader oversee our eyewear and eyecare brands in the North America wholesale channel will give us a more holistic approach to the market that truly sets us apart,” said Uguzzoni. “Sherianne’s track record and expertise in strengthening customer relationships, building industry-leading programs and growing brands make her uniquely suited to advance our mission as EssilorLuxottica.”

James joined Essilor of America in 2016, first serving as vice president of marketing before rising to the role of chief marketing officer in 2017. James has been a board member of the Vision Council since 2018 and has been named twice to Vision Monday’s “Most Influential Women in Optical” list.
