MONROE, N.J.—The Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association, International (NORA) is offering up to 10 students and residents with an interest in neuro-rehabilitation an opportunity to apply for a student grant to attend its 2023 Annual Conference which runs from October 5 to 8 2023 at the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront in Portland, Oregon. NORA is an interdisciplinary group of professionals dedicated to providing patients who have physical or cognitive disabilities as a result of an acquired brain injury with a complete ocular health evaluation and optimum visual rehabilitation education and services to improve their quality of life.

Each grant recipient will receive full conference registration and $500 in travel grant funds. Grant recipients will be required to arrange for their own lodging, but can take advantage of a special conference room rate offered by the Marriott.

To apply for the grant, students/residents must fill out an application form, which includes a 1 to 3-page essay/paper discussing their interest in neuro-rehabilitation and/or the values and principles of working as an interdisciplinary team with other professionals who provide rehabilitative services to individuals who have suffered an acquired brain injury.

The application form should be mailed to noraconference@gmail.com. The deadline for submission is June 30, 2023. Winners will be notified by July 20, 2023.

To be eligible for the grant program, recipients must attend the full meeting. Grant recipients will have the opportunity to attend presentations in addition to being assigned duties throughout the meeting. “We encourage students/residents from Optometry, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and other specialties to join NORA and apply for the grant,” said NORA president DeAnn Fitzgerald, OD.
