On Thursday, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky, MD, overruled the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices and increased who is eligible for a third dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. With the recommended groups from the committee and Dr. Walensky’s addition of health care workers and frontline employees, the CDC is including these groups for eligibility: ages 65 and up, ages 18 to 64 who live or work in a high-risk environment (including health care workers and frontline employees), ages 50 to 64 who have certain underlying medical conditions and ages 18 to 49 who have certain underlying medical conditions (after a consideration of their individual benefit and risks).
